So I had my first 12 hour shift at work yesterday, and I just finished another today.
I work only 12.5 hr shifts, two day shifts in a row and two night shifts in a row, then 4 days off. The first of which is spent sleeping.
What is my job? Entry level at a factory. Staring at conveyor belts of rice, restocking machines with cardboard, running quality checks. Yes, It's boring, so boring in fact that I've caught myself falling asleep multiple times. But it's a job, I've only worked a day and a half and I've already made 400$, and I have two more shifts before my break so I should be able to get most of my college debt paid off this summer.
At my job I wear huge white overalls, steel toed boots, safety glasses, ear plugs, gloves, a hard hat, and a hair net. And yet I still think I look pretty cute, almost like a little umpa lumpa (minus the orange tan).
I wonder if the people who actually work at the factory that makes willy wonka products call themselves umpa lumpas...I would.
